The park ranger Angelica seeks the help of her former boyfriend Viktor, a dog handler, to search for a missing woman, Maria, in a dangerous nature reserve. The search is complicated by a disturbing myth about the Cave Banshee, a vengeful spirit that once lured miners to their deaths in the reserve’s treacherous caves. As they delve deeper into the forest, the group discovers that the Banshee is not just a myth, but a real and deadly threat. To make matters worse, Angelica and Viktor share a painful history with Maria. Two years ago, they were unable to locate Maria’s son who vanished in the same forest, causing a rift between them that has yet to heal. The group must now confront their troubled past and work together to survive the night and unravel the mystery behind Maria’s disappearance.

Her real name was Dagmar Lange, and she was an eccentric teacher and school principal in Stockholm. Over time, Lang observed how the detective genre evolved and the readership declined. This is the story of one of Sweden's most significant mystery writers, who spent her final days in a small apartment in her hometown of Nora.
